Nursing Entrance Exam Information
The state of California is now requiring all community college nursing applicants to pass a national standardized, validated nursing entrance exam. Applicants selected for Spring 2008 semester and after will be required to pass this exam.
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) will be used by the Cypress’ nursing program. The TEAS is a multiple-choice assessment that will cover English and Language Usage, reading, mathematics, and science. For more information on the TEAS, applicants may go to http://www.atitesting.com/global/students/teas-faq.aspx
Applicants who fail to meet the required scores will be given one year to remediate. Admission to the nursing program will be deferred for one year until remediation is completed. Students who need to remediate will meet with a nursing counselor to develop their plan.
Please note this is not part of the selection criteria but a condition of acceptance.
