DRESS CODE IN CLINIC

Our clinic maintains a dress code to meet health standards. Shirt and shoes must be worn by patients.

FEES

A minimal fee is charged for the care provided by our students.  Your student operator will explain the estimated fee at the screening examination.  The instructor will determine if an additional charge will be made above the all inclusive fee.  Payments for services rendered is our policy.  As an educational facility, we have no method of monthly billing, insurance processing or charge card processing.  Your payment may be made by check when presented with proper identification:  current California drivers license and another form of current identification.  If you are a current student of the Cypress College campus your student ID number is required for a reduced student fee.

LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT

A regular recall prophylaxis (cleaning ) will take one appointment.  However, if you have presented a more difficult case, multiple appointments will be scheduled.  The dentist and instructors, along with your student operator, will determine the number of appointments necessary.  An estimate of the number of appointments required to complete your treatment will be provided.  An appointment for an adult is typically 2 to 3 hours depending upon your treatment needs and the students' educational level in the Dental Hygiene Program.

Our program/clinic is a teaching facility and provides learning experiences for the students participating in the Dental Hygiene Program.  All services are performed by students, so  your appointment will demand more time than in a private dental office.

PARKING

Adequate parking is available in Parking Lot 3.  Spaces are marked for "Dental Patients"; and cars must display a "Cypress College Parking Hanger " from your rear view mirror.  Parking hangers are available in the clinic from the office manager/secretary.  Please ask for the hanger!  We urge you to follow these directions to avoid being ticketed by the Cypress City Police Department.  Cypress College is unable to take recourse once tickets are issued.  Additional parking (student parking) is available on the East and West side of the building (Lots 1 or 4).   There is a charge of $1.00 for an all day parking permit.

SCREENING EXAM APPOINTMENT

Your first appointment will be a limited screening appointment.  No fee is charged for this appointment.  A thorough medical/dental history and a cursory soft/hard tissue exam will be performed at this time.  If dental x-rays are necessary for proper dental hygiene treatment, they may be taken at this appointment.  At the end of the screening appointment you will be advised of your treatment needs, the number of appointments  and the estimated total fee.  You will then be reappointed with a student operator for your dental hygiene care.  The assigned student will make every effort to complete your entire treatment.

STUDENT SUPERVISION IN CLINIC

The Cypress College Dental Hygiene Clinic provides patient services under the supervision of a licensed dentist and Registered Dental Hygienist as instructors.  The student's performance is evaluated for each procedure, with support documentation for our educational needs.  Student operators receive a grade for each appointment and each procedure.

TREATING MINORS-UNDER AGE OF 18

All children must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian, who must remain in the clinical facility during the appointment.  The consent for treatment must be signed by a parent or a legal guardian prior to providing treatment for children under 18 years of age.  Children under three years of age nay not be mature enough for clinical care, and a referral to a children's specialist (Pediatric Dentist) may be required.
