Application Procedure
- Counseling: An appointment with a Health Science counselor is mandatory to determine your individual program, based upon background and enrollment at Cypress College.
- Application deadlines:
- Applications are accepted from October through April.
- Applications must be completed in person at the Health Science Counseling office, Health Science building.
- All applicants will have equal access to the program and will be evaluated for admittance based on established criteria.
- It is the responsibility of the applicant to read thoroughly all information provided in the application packet.
- Documents:
- All requested documents, records, and forms must be submitted to the Health Science Counseling office for evaluation. All materials will be stamped as to date and time of receipt.
- Once all required supporting documents have been received for an applicant the application will be evaluated on a individual basis.
- Placement number:
- After evaluation of all documents, records and transcripts indicate all minimum standards and all prerequisites have been met the applicant’s name will be placed on the Applicant List. Note: The more quickly all requirements of the admission procedure are completed, the sooner your name may be placed on the Applicant List. Applicant’s name will be dropped from the list after two (2) calendar years from date of completed application. At this time, the applicant may file a written request for a new placement number.
- Upon successful completion of Nursing 90 Nursing Transitions (with a grade of “C” or better) a qualified applicant must request placement on the Mobility Placement List. The form to request placement is available in the Health Science Counseling office.
- After filing request for placement on the Mobility Placement List, a qualified applicant will be assigned a placement number on the Mobility Placement List. Order of placement number on the Mobility Placement List will be determined by the date of completion of all requirements for application. In the event applications were completed on the same date, grade point average of all prerequisite courses will be used to determine placement on the list. Random selection will be used in the event of identical GPA’s.
- The Mobility Placement List will be submitted to the Director of Nursing.
- Eligible applicants will be admitted to the nursing program on a space available basis according to attrition in the generic nursing program and according to placement number on the Mobility Placement List.
- Acceptance:
- The applicant will have one offer of admittance per applicant period.
- When notified of admittance to the program a response of acceptance is required by a specified date.
- Applicant rejects offer of admittance: An applicant who chooses not to accept admittance will be dropped from the list. At this time, the applicant may file a written request for a new placement number.
- No response to notification of admission by specified date constitutes rejection by the applicant and the applicant’s name is the dropped from the list.
